Bats live in Wisconsin.  Little Brown Bats have been spotted in Menomonee Falls. There are many people who are afraid of bats and want to have them destroyed.

Our class has read the book
StellalunaStellaluna  and we are now learning about bats. We need to convince people that bats are unique and special animals that deserve our protection.

In order to do this, you will need to become bat "experts." You will need to plan a poster with pictures and words that will convince everyone that bats are important to the environment and people.

The steps you need to take:

1.  Get a copy of the Going Batty Research Worksheet from your teacher.
As you explore the "Going Batty" website and answer the questions you will discover information about:

where in the world bats live
what kinds of foods bats eat
what bats look like
bat myths
how bats are different from birds
the special way bats get around at night
how bats are important to the environment!

2. You will use your Research Worksheet to help you design your poster. Remember, some people in Menomonee Falls are frightened of bats. How will you convince them that bats are good to have around?

3.  Use the poster checklist from your teacher to make sure you project is the best it can be!
