Menomonee Falls - 1886
When
you learn about history, you are learning about the past. Menomonee
Falls has an interesting past. Our village is named after the Menomonee
River. Native Americans from the Menominee and Chippewa tribe lived
in the area.
The name "Menomonee" comes from the Indian word meaning
"wild rice." Many of the first settlers came here because of the river.
You will learn more about our early settlers
by reading about their homes, clothing, work, school and the games they
played.
